MommyPreneur Monday – Welcome!
MommyPreneur Monday – Welcome!
Welcome to my world: For those who don’t know, I’m a mom to two adorable boys, ages 3.5 years and 18 months. They, along with my custom stationery and invitations business – and of course my amazing husband (hi, honey!!) – give me the greatest joy any gal could ask for. But, like with any working mom, there’s the constant struggle to juggle a balance of work, life and kids. Oh yeah – and don’t forget guilt. Please join me each Monday on my journey of fumbles and victories – hopefully not in that order – as I blend being Chief Operating Officer of my home and growing business.
Getting Inked
When I can, I like to include my kids in the orders that I’m working on. Whether it’s searching for papers, ribbons or inspiration, I ask their opinion in the very important task at hand. Yes, most of the time I already have my mind made up, and my 18-month-old generally communicates by grabbing or squealing, BUT including them in conversations and letting them know they have a voice will always be important to us. And, it’s fun for them to see the creative process from start to finish.
Every time I finish a job, I’m either stamping my logo on cards or labels for packaging. My oldest loves getting in on this action and wants his hand stamped, too. Why not? He’s my greatest project to date. (He actually insists on being stamped anytime he sees the stamper, but that’s besides the point.) It makes me proud to see how proudly he wears “Mommy’s company,” and then that slowly wears off as he cries that it’s now smudging – stop rubbing it! – and he can’t have it up and down his arm. All that aside, it’s a really sweet moment. And who doesn’t love a couple of chubby hands?
